Family Owned And Operated Since 1995

(Original Owner of Pearl Pearl Chinese Restaurant in Westminster)

For over 19 years Crystal Island has been serving Thornton Locals great Chinese food, and somehow I’ve driven by this modest restaurant daily without knowing the fabulous flavor that awaits my palette inside. Tucked into the Woodglen Shopping Center (at 112th & Colorado), this humble-on-the-outside Chinese restaurant has plenty to offer your appetite.

Owners Elaine and Kwan have been local restaurateurs for over 24 years.  They believe much of the success of the restaurant comes from using their family recipes handed down from generations before them.  All of their sauces and soups are made at the restaurant, nothing from a can or jar.  One of their most popular dishes, the Egg Foo Young is even made fresh to order! The soups were all delicious; with the Egg drop my favorite. The appetizer list is extensive (they even have hard to find silver wrapped chicken); we tried the crab cheese wontons and popular egg rolls and loved them both.

For the main course, we shared Sesame Chicken, Mongolian Beef and Vegetable Lo Mein and every dish was savory, fresh and unique.  The Sesame Chicken was different than any other I have tried, an ideal blend of sweet and spicy making its own unique taste.

The Mongolian Beef was fresh and tender, but the Lo Mein was by far my favorite.  Everything about this dish worked together to create the perfect blend.  From the noodles to the vegetable selection to the fresh, homemade sauce, the Lo Mein was delicious.

We were obviously not alone in enjoying Crystal Island’s menu.  Throughout our meal the door kept opening with “regulars” coming in to dine or pick up their favorite dishes to go (delivery is also available).  Elaine knew everyone, and knew their favorite dish before they ordered, adding to the neighborhood feel of this great local restaurant.
